North Woodstock, NH
In September, 2015, Preferred Grain Systems LLC completed construction of a new bulk grain storage and handling system for the Woodstock Inn and Brewery. The system consists of an outdoor galvanized hopper tank with capacity for 1800 bushels, a surge tank with scales to measure the grain for each batch and a roller mill to grind the barley before entering the mash tun. The outside hopper is filled with a blower truck and each component is connected with flex augers. The roller mill also features a covered hopper with a grate for safe addition of bagged ingredients.
Since the completion, the system has greatly reduced dust in the grinding room, opened up more work space, increased safety and has provided significant savings from bulk handling over bags. Woodstock Inn and Brewery is a popular destination in North Woodstock, NH close to a variety of mountain recreation activities. Equipment for the project was sourced from RAD equipment in Quebec with installation by Preferred Grain Systems LLC.

Mathews Company, global manufacturer of grain dryers, welcomes new dealer, Preferred Grain Systems, LLC, of Cato, NY as its newest dryer dealer.
Owner, Chuck Kyle started Preferred Grain Systems to provide grain equipment sales and service to farms and commercial elevators throughout New York and New England. As a farmer Chuck understands the need for high quality equipment installed and maintained for peak performance in order to maximize the value of grain. His brother, Jim Kyle is lead service tech for dryers and brings to the business a wide range of technical experience and troubleshooting ability.
“The Kyles’ understanding of farming, grain handling and their mechanical aptitude will be of tremendous benefit when selling and servicing M-C Grain Dryers in New York State,” says Tamara Steinkamp, Marketing Communications Specialist.
“I decided to sell MC because of their specialization in grain dryers. When we call MC for dealer support I am often talking with the engineer that designed the dryer. That makes all the difference in getting the equipment up and running as fast as possible for our customers. MC has a great combination of simplicity and built in serviceability that make them easy to use with a very low cost of maintenance.” Kyle says.
The Kyles recently attended Mathews Company’s M-C University for Technical Training held yearly at the M-C plant in Crystal Lake, IL. This intense training curriculum is open only to dealers and their service personnel to learn how to install, troubleshoot and service M-C Grain Dryers. Steinkamp feels that this training is not only necessary, but is invaluable to when selling on-farm grain dryers. “Understanding the mechanical and technical aspects, and nuances of both the tower and profile style dryers, and their control systems, will help the Kyles make the right recommendation to farmers wanting the maximum energy efficiency dryer specific to way they farm.”
